Robert Slimbach designed Myriad Arabic as a companion to the Western scripts in the Myriad Pro family. While there have been a number of Arabic sans serif typefaces, few if any were designed to work well for longer blocks of text or for easy readability on screen. Myriad Arabic addresses that need by combining classic Naskh features and subtle echoes of calligraphic weight distribution with adjusted proportions to emphasize the letters, internal spaces and distinguishing features. The Arabic faces retain the Myriad family’s clean shapes and even spacing for a comfortable reading experience. The result is a contemporary design with a warm, traditional feel. At larger sizes Myriad Arabic’s subtle weight modulations become more clear, giving text a restrained elegance. The family includes Italic designs to accommodate Western-style emphasis when needed.
