Naoko is a sans-serif typeface family in 7 weights. The name comes from “Naoko Yamazaki”, the second Japanese woman to become an astronaut. Its design relies on wide proportions, very short ascenders and light diacritics on all weights. It comes with a stylistic set of light punctuation, and an alternative g. Some Japanese symbols are even hidden in its character set…
If you want to know more about the design process, please check “Naoko” on Kickstarter and you should find a video explaining the whole project.
